I have ordered “ON Whey Protein, 100% Natural Whey, Chocolate Flavor” from Amazon (shipped from Amazon) and I have received the older Tub (not the new look in the picture).
What bothers me is that although the plastic cover was there and I had to cut it from around the lid, the seal under the cover was already peeled out (exists but not sticking at all).
Not sure why this happened, if Amazon should replace it for me or is it safe to use it as is, any ideas?

This review is for Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Natural Whey, Chocolate, 5.13-Pound Tub. Once I received the product, I was very disappointed to find Stevia in the ingredients listed on the label. Stevia is an artificial sweetener (extracted from a plant). Given the description of the product, “All Natural: No artificial colors, flavors or sweeteners.”, this surprised me, especially since it is not listed in the ingredients list on the product page.
Stevia gives me a stomach ache.
Otherwise the taste is so-so, and I find that it must be mixed with a sweetened beverage to be palatable (e.g. vanilla soy milk or a frappuccino). Once mixed with a sweetened beverage the stomach-ache-iness effect is also reduced.

This product (along with every soy and whey product I’ve looked at) contains “natural flavors”. Typically this indicates an excitotoxin (i.e. one of the many types of MSG), which damages our brains. If it was really a natural flavor, they would list specifically what it is, i.e. vanilla flavoring, natural strawberry flavor, chocolate flavor, etc. Just “natural flavor” which is also in every liquid vit./min. complex I’ve seen, means an excitotoxin is being used. Disgusting for these companies to fool the public this way.

I have been a long time user of ON products, especially the 100% Whey protein line. I have tried many varieties of protein and ON is my personal favorite. It tastes good, mixes well, and the price is right. I was very excited about trying the 100% Natural Whey as I am trying to cut artificial sweeteners out of my diet. I decided to start with the vanilla as it was the cheapest. To my shock, it was nothing like I expected. I first noticed that the powder wasn’t the same consistency as the original and sort of clumped together like that of some of the cheaper lower quality brands. It was impossible to completely mix in my shaker and I ended up having to drink it in clumps. The taste is also not as good as the original. I have not tried the 100% Natural chocolate and I won’t be doing so. I will be sticking to the original formula. I would gladly take the artificial sweeteners over this horrible stuff. 0 mixability! Poor taste! Do not waste your money.
