As an interested student of high fat diets for bulking up this book overall provided decently detailed info on how they work and why they work, but then the negatives were too annoying to ignore. He rambles on about how his diet is better than everyone elses which is a nuisance and a lie,and the fact that he is constantly self promoting his products just puts the icing on the cake for me. If your after very basic info on high fat diets than this may help but do realise you will be wasting your money on the rest of the worhtlessness that the book has.

I read this book after hearing Dr. DiPasquale on Heavy Muscle radio and Superhuman Radio. His knowledge of nutrition was very impressive and for many other is controversial with his views. However his credentials back his views up by being a medical doctor of sports medicine and a world champion of powerlifting setting records in that very same sport. The book is easy to read and very informative plus I’ve been on this diet for about two months now and I’m getting leaner, gaining muscle and all my lifts are going up drastically. I also do Brazilain Jiu-Jitsu on the side and my endurance is much higher since fat gives the body more energy (4cal per g of carb/9cal per g of Fat). I don’t have any highs or lows all day since my sugar levels are stable and insulin isn’t going rampant due to my metabolism running on fatty acids and amino acids. I’ve tried many diets to become a better bodybuilder and many of these diets are pretty restrictive on what to eat but this diet is a feast since fat is tasty. I’m eating foods many consider forbidden and my overall health and energy is incredible. People have to remember that this diet isn’t an Aktins diet, once you become fat adapted, during the week its low carb, high fat, hight protein but on the weekend its high carbs, high protein and low fat because insulin is the most anabolic hormone and is utilized in this diet for muscle building and not for fat storing. I’ve also noticed other nutritionist (Jerry Brunetti), dietitians, bodybuilder preps (Dave Palumbo), doctors (Dr. Scott Connelly, Dr. Carlon Colker) and scientists all coming out now saying how the right fat for energy is really the much healthier way to go since this is how we ate many years ago as cavemen. Dr. DiPasquale should receive tremendous credit since he was writing about low carb phase shifting before anyone else was, even before the Aktins low carb craze. He wasn’t the first talking about low carb but he truly modified the low carb way into a highly efficient diet recruiting all the hormones to work with the body and definitely was the guy who Dan Duchaine, Bill Phillips, Charles Poliquin, and many of the newer writers have received much of their knowledge from. There are many nutrition guru’s out there but this author really does “walk’s the walk and talk’s the talk”.

Have used this diet prior when he called it the Anabolic Diet in the 1990′s. If you follow his guidelines, which he spells out for you, you will have success. Especially for those who are avid weightlifters – the results are great. You will experience some of the best workouts ever after coming off your carb load on the weekend – your muscles will feel full, vascular and your strength will be through the roof. It can be tedious to keep track of how many carbs you are ingesting during the week, but it is worth it in the long run. Very happy to see that he has come out with his own supplement line as well. A little on the expensive side, but he understands the nutritional profile that you need on this diet and his supplements support it. Highly recommend this diet, with a little discipline you can achieve the look you’ve worked hard to develop.

Doctor Mauro Di Pasquale MD, has produced a fairly easy to understand book that perfectly explains the proper,easy way to lose fat while minimizing muscle loss.It has been a great tool in guiding me to proper nutrition and physique control.

This is for anyone/everyone. Its in my top shelf. Its a lot to “buy into” but believe me… once you tailor the Anabolic Diet to you… nothing but magic.
